Patriot Memory has released the Viper PV553 SSD with a tiny fan and speeds of up to 12,400 MB/s

Patriot Memory has officially unveiled the Viper PV553 PCIe 5.0 SSD. The new product was first shown at Computex 2023 last summer. This is the manufacturer's first SSD in M.2 format with an active cooling system, which includes a tangential fan.

The Viper PV553 is based on 232-layer 3D TLC NAND memory chips from Micron, as well as an unnamed PCIe 5.0 x4 controller that complies with the NVMe 2.0 protocol. The manufacturer claims sequential read and write speeds of up to 12,400 and 11,800 MB/s for the new product, respectively. The performance in random read and write operations of the new product is up to 1.4 million IOPS.

Viper PV553 is equipped with a cooling system with a height of 16.5 mm. Under the cooling system casing there is an aluminum radiator, as well as a small tangential fan. Thermal pads are used to effectively transfer heat between the SSD components and the heatsink, as well as the bottom of the cooling system casing.

According to the manufacturer, the cooling system of the Viper PV553 drive provides a 40 percent reduction in the operating temperature of the SSD under intense loads.

Patriot will release the Viper PV553 in 1, 2 and 4 TB versions with a rewrite resource of 700, 1400 and 3000 TBW (terabytes of overwritten information), respectively. All models will come with a five-year manufacturer's warranty. The company did not say anything about the cost of the new product.
