Users began to return to Windows 10 , so the operating system increased its market share, exceeding the 70% mark. At the same time, the share of Windows 11 fell to 25.69%. Microsoft is trying to attract attention to the new OS through updates and advertising, but this is not enough.

Windows 10 gained 70% market share

Users are returning to Windows 10, displacing Windows 11 from the market. Microsoft expected that with new features, a modern interface and improved applications, the new operating system would take the place of Windows 10. However, the update was not liked by users.

According to a Statcounter report, Windows 10 increased its market share in April, exceeding 70%. At the same time, the share of Windows 11 fell to 25.69%. This suggests that the popularity of Windows 10 has grown due to users switching from Windows 11.

Windows 10 turned nine years old this year, and Windows 11 turned three. That's why it's surprising that the new Windows 11 is inferior to a system that hasn't been updated for a long time. Tech experts explain: “Windows 11 has been controversial since its launch due to its strict hardware requirements and redesigned interface. "Microsoft thought adding an AI assistant would make a little difference, but it didn't deliver the results we expected."

Microsoft is now preparing to release a major update to Windows 11 with version 24H2, which will include new AI-based features. However, most users do not have PCs capable of running AI models.

The company began showing full-screen advertisements in Windows 10, reminiscent of the functionality of Windows 11, but this is not enough to convince users to switch to the new operating system.
