OpenAI launches ChatGPT Go subscription for $8 per month
OpenAI announced the launch of ChatGPT Go, a subscription service priced at $8 per month. This plan is available in all regions where the service is officially available. The company also announced the start of testing ads in the ChatGPT interface.
The ChatGPT Go plan is positioned as a middle ground between the free version and the $20/month ChatGPT Plus subscription. The plan's main benefit is expanded access to the GPT-5.2 Instant model. According to OpenAI, the limits on the number of messages, file uploads, and image generation for Go subscribers are ten times higher than those for the free tier. However, the company does not specify the absolute values of these limits or the time intervals for their reset. By comparison, free users are currently limited to 10 GPT-5.2 messages every five hours, after which the service switches to a simplified model.
The company also announced plans to begin testing ads in the ChatGPT interface for Go plan users. Testing is expected to begin soon. Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plan users will not see ads.
OpenAI stated that advertising does not influence the AI's responses and will not appear in conversations about sensitive topics. The company also confirmed that user data is not shared with advertisers. This step, according to OpenAI, is aimed at maintaining the service's economic sustainability and preserving the availability of its core functionality for a wide audience.
