Nvidia will build a new AI data center in Indonesia for $200 million

Nvidia has announced plans to build a new artificial intelligence data center in Indonesia. The project will cost $200 million, and the partner will be local telecommunications leader Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

Budi Ari Setiadi, Indonesia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that the new base will be located in Surakarta, Central Java. This will significantly strengthen the region's local telecommunications infrastructure.

Indosat previously announced its readiness to adopt Nvidia Blackwell's next-generation chip architecture, helping propel Indonesia towards a new era of sovereign AI and technological development.

Nvidia's plans to expand in Indonesia reflect the company's desire to improve its position in Southeast Asia, where demand for data is growing rapidly as the digital economy grows.

As a result of this initiative, regional companies will have access to Nvidia's advanced AI computing capabilities without having to invest in their own costly data center infrastructure.

Southeast Asia is a key source of revenue for Nvidia. Last year, about 15%, or $2.7 billion, of the company's quarterly revenue came from Singapore. According to Nvidia's latest reports, the company's $18.40 billion in revenue comes from data centers.
