Microsoft will disable the ability to upload files from URLs in OneDrive

Microsoft continues to improve its cloud service OneDrive, adding useful features such as the AI assistant Copilot. At the same time, the software giant does not forget to get rid of outdated and unclaimed functions. One of the unpopular OneDrive tools is the ability to upload files to the cloud from a remote server using URLs, so Microsoft decided to get rid of it.
The ability to upload files to OneDrive from URLs is in testing and is available to OneDrive Personal users. However, due to the low popularity and high costs of maintaining the normal operation of this tool, a decision was made to eliminate it. Support for uploading files to OneDrive from URLs will officially end on March 29, 2024. Microsoft noted that the feature may stop working at any time after this date, and there will be no further announcements on this issue.
This change will affect users who enjoy the ability to upload files to OneDrive via URLs. Files that have been uploaded to the cloud using this tool will not be affected in any way. All other Microsoft cloud storage users will not notice any changes.
