Google will add a number of features to the Messages app for Android that will help protect users from spam and phishing. In particular, the app will learn to recognize fraudulent schemes in messages, identify dangerous links and block unwanted contacts.

As Android Central reports , messages will be analyzed using artificial intelligence running directly on the user's device, which will ensure the privacy of correspondence.

For example, Google Messages will be able to recognize typical scammer techniques used in messages about package deliveries or job offers, and will mark such messages as spam or suspicious.

Additionally, Google Messages will warn users about potentially dangerous links that could lead to phishing sites or infect the device with malware.

Google also plans to add a feature to automatically block messages from unknown foreign numbers and a feature to blur images containing nude content.

In the future, Google Messages will receive a contact verification system. It will allow users to verify the authenticity of the interlocutor by checking his data with a public cryptographic key.
