YouTube removes low-quality AI-generated content

YouTube, the largest video hosting service, has launched a large-scale deletion of channels created using artificial intelligence. Several popular projects, which collectively had accumulated over 11 million subscribers and a billion views, have already disappeared from the platform.

Among the removed channels was CuentosFascinantes, which Kapwing identified as the largest source of so-called "AI junk" in a report. It had 5.9 million subscribers and 1.2 billion views. The channel published low-quality videos about the Dragon Ball universe. Imperio de Jesus, a channel with 5.8 million subscribers offering interactive quizzes on religious topics, was also blocked.

In total, at least 16 channels from Kapwing's report were removed or purged. Some projects, such as Super Cat League with two million subscribers, lost all their videos, but their pages remained on the platform.

These measures come just weeks after YouTube CEO Neal Mohan addressed the problem of low-quality AI-generated content. Mohan announced plans to use anti-spam systems to curb it.

There's currently no official comment from YouTube. The platform has previously removed channels with fake trailers, but continues to encourage creators to use AI tools to create short videos.
