Windows 11 Becomes Most Popular OS Among Steam Gamers
According to an August survey of Steam user hardware and software, Windows 11 became the most widely used operating system on the platform for the first time.
The share of Windows 11 64-bit reached 49.17%, which is 3.36% more than the previous month. At the same time, the share of Windows 10 64-bit decreased by 3.07% and amounted to 47.09%.
Thus, Windows 11 has overtaken Windows 10 in popularity among Steam gamers. Overall, all versions of Windows account for 96.78% of the platform's users.
macOS's share is only 1.3%, while Linux's is 1.92%.
Windows 11's popularity among Steam gamers is likely due to the operating system's improved performance and stability in games. Windows 11 also has a number of new features that may be useful to gamers, such as DirectStorage and Auto HDR.
