Apple to Use AI to Improve iPhone Battery Life

Apple is developing an intelligent battery management system in iOS 19 that will analyze user behavior and automatically optimize power consumption. The technology, part of the Apple Intelligence platform, will collect battery data from millions of devices to predict when certain apps or features can be reduced. There will also be an indicator on the lock screen that shows how much time is left in the battery.

This feature is especially relevant in light of the upcoming release of the iPhone 17 Slim, a thinner version of the smartphone that will have a smaller battery due to its compact body. Apple expects AI algorithms to compensate for the reduced battery life in the new model. At the same time, battery optimization will be available to all devices that support iOS 19, which can improve the user experience for owners of both new and old iPhones.

Apple Intelligence, introduced last year, already includes tools for editing text, creating emoji, removing objects from photos and generating sketches. Now the company wants to address the battery life issue that remains a weak point for smartphones.

Apple Intelligence development is slower than expected, with some features including an updated Siri delayed, showing Apple is lagging behind in the AI ​​race with OpenAI and Google. Apple is aiming to make 2025 updates more stable, with engineers focusing on quality after criticism for bugs in previous versions. The first beta of iOS 19 will be ready by the end of May, with the official announcement taking place on June 9 at WWDC. The final release is expected in September, along with the new iPhones and Apple Watch.
