TCL will release a feature film created in Midjourney and Runway ML

TCL has released a trailer for its debut feature film, Next Stop Paris, created using artificial intelligence.

The team used Runway ML to create the trailer. Additionally, some excerpts were made with the help of Midjourney. The film is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2024 and will be available to watch on the free streaming app TCLtv+.

While many film studios have come under fire for their use of AI, TCL has decided to highlight the benefits of the technology. The one-minute video tells the story of two young Americans who meet on a train to Paris and fall in love.

However, the generated content is not yet perfect. The trailer contains noticeable errors due to imperfect text-to-video technology: each frame lasts only a few seconds, there is almost no movement, and the appearance of the main characters changes greatly from scene to scene.

Additionally, all non-visual aspects of the trailer are man-made. The background music was recorded by a real band, the script was written by a human, and the voices were recorded by professional voice actors.
