To support this deployment, which includes data centers and power plants, NVIDIA intends to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI. Investments will be made as new NVIDIA systems are deployed. The first phase of the project is planned to launch in the second half of 2026, based on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform.

As NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang noted, the companies have been collaborating for ten years. This new partnership marks the next step in building the computing infrastructure for the new era of AI.

OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman emphasized that computing infrastructure will form the foundation of the future economy. Collaborative developments will be used both for AI breakthroughs and to empower people and companies.

OpenAI will collaborate with NVIDIA as its preferred computing and networking partner to realize its plans. The companies will jointly optimize their software and infrastructure development roadmaps.

This partnership complements the existing work that OpenAI and NVIDIA are doing with other companies, including Microsoft and Oracle, to build the world's leading AI infrastructure.

The partnership is designed to support OpenAI as the company's services grow to over 700 million weekly active users. The parties plan to finalize all details of the collaboration in the coming weeks.
