NVIDIA Overtakes Microsoft to Become World's Most Valuable Company Again

American developer of graphics processors NVIDIA has once again become the most expensive public company in the world, overtaking Microsoft in market capitalization. According to TradingView, NVIDIA (NVDA) shares rose by 2.8% on June 3, reaching $141.22, which increased the company's capitalization to $3.45 trillion. Microsoft (MSFT) shares added only 0.22%, and its market value amounted to $3.44 trillion. Apple remained in third place with a capitalization of $3.04 trillion.

This isn't the first time NVIDIA has topped the list: the first time it did so was on June 18, 2024, when it overtook Microsoft. Since then, NVIDIA, Apple, and Microsoft have periodically swapped places. The last time NVIDIA was in first place was on January 24.

NVIDIA shares were slumping in early 2025, hit by U.S. trade restrictions on chip shipments to China and concerns about weaker demand from large customers who are hesitant about the profitability of large investments in AI infrastructure. However, the stock has since recovered, helped by easing tariff concerns and a strong first-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings report.

NVIDIA's revenue for the quarter grew 69% year over year to $44.06 billion, while net income increased 26% to $18.8 billion, beating analysts' expectations. Sales from its data center division, which includes AI chips, grew particularly strongly, up 73%.

NVIDIA shares have risen more than 45% since April, adding $1 trillion to its market value. The gains have been driven by strong demand for its AI chips, which power applications like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
