Microsoft will sell the Teams app separately from Office 365
Teams will no longer be part of Microsoft Office. This initiative is based on the tech giant's attempt to prevent a possible antitrust fine from the EU.

Microsoft announced that the Teams app will be sold globally separately from Office 365. The decision comes six months after the company split the products in the EU to avoid possible antitrust fines.
Microsoft said it is introducing a new line of Microsoft 365 and Office 365 commercial suites without the Teams app, which is now available as a standalone product. Starting April 1, customers will be able to either continue using their current license agreement or upgrade to new offerings.
Office 365 prices for new commercial customers will range from $7.75 to $54.75 depending on the product, while Teams will cost $5.25.
However, Microsoft's actions may not be enough to prevent antitrust charges from the EU. Competitors have criticized the company's fee levels and the ability of its messaging services to run web apps on their own services.
Microsoft, which has received $2.4 billion in EU antitrust fines over the past decade for combining two or more products, risks being fined up to 10% of its global annual turnover if it is found guilty of antitrust violations.
