Harvard Astrophysicist Suspects Comet Is Alien Ship

How one harmless space rock was inflated into an "invasion by November," and why social media fell for the fake again.

Harvard Astrophysicist Suspects Comet Is Alien Ship

In the summer of 2025, scientists spotted a mysterious object, 3I/ATLAS, flying through our solar system. Official science unanimously insists: it is simply an interstellar comet, of which there are thousands. But social networks, of course, immediately picked up and inflated the story to the scale of an "alien invasion by November."

It all started with a scientific article, where scientists hypothetically considered the version of the artificial origin of the object - just as a mental exercise. But the Internet, as always, took the phrase out of context: "scientists admit" instantly turned into "scientists confirm". Posts about the "inevitable invasion" appeared, gaining hundreds of thousands of views.

However, the real data says something completely different. NASA clearly stated that the object will pass at a safe distance from Earth. Even if it were a ship (and it is almost certainly not), its trajectory does not pose a threat. But who will read boring official statements when you can hype up fears? Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb added fuel to the fire. They say that the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS is approaching Earth along a very suspicious trajectory. It is possible that this is a ship of alien origin. According to the astrophysicist, 3I/ATLAS will reach Earth between November 21 and December 5, 2025. Apparently, the astrophysicist is a big fan of extraterrestrial intelligence, and the latter stubbornly refuses to contact him. It is especially funny that similar hysteria already happened in 2017 with the Oumuamua object - then they also shouted about an "alien sailboat", but it turned out to be just a stone of an unusual shape. Apparently, humanity vitally needs to scare itself with evil aliens every few years, so as not to get bored. So you can relax. If 3I/ATLAS brings us something from the depths of space, then this is just another lesson: do not believe everything that is written on social networks. Well, if they do arrive by November, then let the Americans themselves explain why they made so many strange films about them, in our cinematography all aliens were decent guys. Ku!
