Super SIM with 5G support and built-in memory up to 128 GB appeared in China

Sales of a new generation of SIM cards, called Super SIM , have begun in China . Essentially, this is a chip the size of a regular microSD card that contains a communication chip, a 5G module and different amounts of memory for data storage.

The familiar SIM card also has built-in memory, but it is limited to 512 KB for recording a couple of hundred phone numbers. And Super SIM is an improved version of a flash drive, but with a new generation communication module and the ability to insert it into any smartphone.

Super SIM comes with three types of memory: 32, 64 and 128 GB. The information recorded here is encrypted and is accessible only to the owner. On the card you can store phone numbers, photos, videos, smartphone backups, applications, documents and other necessary information.

At launch, Super SIM cards are sold only in one Chinese city, Guangzhou, and are suitable for two special smartphone models. If users like the new format, it will be expanded, and over time, Super SIM support will appear in most regular models.

Super SIM 32 GB was priced at $20. The maximum volume will cost $78.
