Samsung is discontinuing its ultra-thin Galaxy Edge smartphone.
Samsung has decided to discontinue its Galaxy Edge smartphone line following the commercial failure of the S25 Edge. Production of the current model will cease, and development of a successor will be discontinued.
According to South Korean publication Newspim, Samsung has decided to discontinue its flagship Galaxy Edge smartphone series. The move was prompted by the commercial failure of the Galaxy S25 Edge, whose sales fell significantly short of expectations.
According to reports, the company focused on a thin and light design for this model, which led to compromises in technical specifications. This decision failed to resonate with consumers. In just five months after its release, only about 1.31 million units of the S25 Edge were sold. By comparison, sales of the other models in the line—the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra—were 8.28 million, 5.05 million, and 12.18 million units, respectively.
As a result, Samsung plans to halt production of the Galaxy S25 Edge after selling out its current inventory and completely cancel development of the nearly-completed Galaxy S26 Edge. The company will thus return to its traditional flagship lineup structure, which includes three models: the base S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. The likelihood of a return of the Edge series in the future is considered extremely low.
According to M.Video , Samsung was among the top sellers in both volume and value terms for the period January–September 2025, ranking second behind Apple. The top three most popular models in the penultimate week of September included the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra and the mainstream Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A56.
