Google is ready to launch Find My Device

Google is ready to launch Find My Device, well almost. It turns out that Google was waiting for Apple, and it couldn’t have happened without them.

Google's Find My Device (FMD) network, which helps you find lost devices, will soon be available.

This is a system that uses more than 1 billion Android devices to find missing gadgets. FMD works just like iOS Finder, it can find your phone even if it's offline, doesn't have GPS, or is in power saving mode.

Why was the FMD launch delayed?

And despite having a billion Android devices, Google waited for Apple to add tracking protection to iOS. FMD should not be used to spy on iPhone owners without their knowledge.

iOS 17.5 added this feature, but since this version is still in beta, Google will have to wait a little longer.
