ChatGPT no longer requires an account

OpenAI makes its leading generative AI available without the need to create an account. However, the ChatGPT feature set for such users will be limited, and their chats can be used as training data for the system.

ChatGPT no longer requires an account

Starting today, OpenAI is making ChatGPT available to the public. Now users do not need to log in to the system. By logging into the site, you can immediately start a conversation with a chat bot, which uses the same model as for registered users.

The chat time with ChatGPT is unlimited, but unregistered users do not receive the full range of chatbot functions. Additionally, there will be no way to save or send chats as the conversations are not associated with a specific account.

All chats will still be included in the model's training data. However, OpenAI provides an option to opt out of this via a disable feature. Moreover, the free version of ChatGPT will have a more restrictive content policy.

It's unclear which users will be able to access the service first, but the free version of ChatGPT is scheduled to begin rolling out today. While this may be a welcome development for many, OpenAI must be prepared for possible attempts to abuse the model and exploit it on an unprecedented scale.
