eSIM Smartphone Sales Grow 33% in 2024

In 2024, sales of smartphones with eSIM support in the M.Video-Eldorado network increased by 33%. Samsung, Xiaomi and Google became the leaders in demand, and users increasingly choose devices with modern technology for convenience and time saving.

M.Video-Eldorado Group reported a significant increase in sales of smartphones with eSIM technology support. In 2024, their sales increased by 33% compared to the previous year. Samsung devices became the leader in demand, their popularity increased by 4086%. Xiaomi smartphones (260% increase) and Google (237% increase in demand) also made it into the top 3.

eSIM technology allows users to activate mobile communications without a physical SIM card, making it convenient for those who travel frequently or use multiple numbers.

The cost of smartphones with eSIM starts from 30 thousand rubles, while regular models can be purchased from 6 thousand rubles. However, even phones without built-in eSIM support can be upgraded using special modules. A survey by Unisimka, a manufacturer of modules for upgrading a phone to a version with eSIM, in which more than 1,000 people took part, showed that 10% of users are ready to switch to smartphones with eSIM if their price is affordable. At the same time, 38% of respondents said that the presence or absence of eSIM does not matter to them.

Analysts also found that Xiaomi is the most popular smartphone on which users install modules to support eSIM (30%). The top 3 also includes Samsung (18%) and Huawei (10%).
