Elon Musk Gives Premium Features to Influential Twitter Users (X)
Elon Musk has started offering free premium features, including blue ticks, to select Twitter (X) users . Every account on the platform with more than 2,500 verified followers will receive premium for free, while accounts with more than 5,000 followers will receive premium+.

Twitter (X), the social platform run by Elon Musk, has begun offering free premium features to select users, including verification blue ticks, in recognition of their influence on the platform.
Most users can access Twitter's premium features (X) through a paid subscription, which is divided into three tiers - basic, premium and premium+. Its cost ranges from $32 per year for the basic level to $168 per year for premium +. However, Musk announced that he would be providing free access to premium features for certain users.
According to a post on Twitter (X), accounts with more than 2,500 verified followers will get free access to premium features, while accounts with more than 5,000 followers will get free access to premium+.
The introduction of Twitter (X) subscriptions was part of Musk's strategy to boost advertising revenue on the platform, especially after some advertisers pulled out or stopped buying placements entirely. For example, in November 2023, companies such as Disney and Apple suspended their advertising campaigns on Twitter (X) after Musk discussed conspiracy theories.
It's unclear how long the free premium features will last. However, the company reserved the user the right to cancel subscriptions and remove the “tick”.
