Apple Launches CarPlay Ultra — a System for Full Control of the Car
Apple has expanded the functionality of its in - car system to support dashboards and other displays, with rollout starting with Aston Martin models.

Apple has launched CarPlay Ultra, a new version of its in-car interface that goes far beyond simply mirroring your smartphone screen. The system now controls all digital displays in the car, including the instrument cluster, and interacts with the car's sensors.
The main difference of CarPlay Ultra is its full integration with car systems. On the dashboard, the driver sees a speedometer, tachometer, fuel level and other parameters in the Apple corporate style. The system displays not only data from the iPhone, but also information from the car: tire pressure, driver assistance systems and much more.
CarPlay Ultra lets you control your climate control, audio system, and even your car's performance modes using the touchscreen, physical buttons, or Siri voice assistant. There are also widgets that display key information in a convenient format.
Apple does not impose a single design - the interface adapts to the style of each car manufacturer. Drivers can customize colors and background images, preserving the individuality of their car.
Aston Martin is the first brand to implement CarPlay Ultra. The system will be available for new orders in the U.S. and Canada starting May 15, 2025, and owners of the latest models will be able to upgrade through dealers. The technology will be available in Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Honda and other brands within a year.
CarPlay Ultra requires an iPhone 12 or later with iOS 18.5+ and a vehicle with a digital instrument cluster. According to Apple vice president Bob Borchers, the system makes interacting with your car more convenient and safe by combining all features into a single interface.
